She is a strong minded and brave woman, trying hard to meet ends in a world surrounded by men. Okay the premise of the book was the H Dec was in prison for giving bad heroine to a hooker and she died. She had suffered a bad marriage with a cruel man and now he is dead she just wants to live a better life alone if she must and not taking a husband. Claudia is a widow who has sworn off marriage due to the abuse of her ex. I was so annoyed with her. Then local cop Jeffrey keeps pushing her for a relationship but she never filed her divorce papers because she is still in love but.
She is quite determined to take a lover and the handsome Lord Shillington is quite the catch. Scandalous Redemption is a wonderful light historical romance worth checking out! Thank Goddreads and Amanda Mariel for the signed and free book, here is my honest review; Claudia was a woman with no luck in love, she has been rejected by a man who she dreamed of and loved, and had a brute marriage! They were a great combo. He had also sent her divorce papers that she has yet to sign. The remaining fourth is waiting for a big secret to be revealed and to see how these two have changed in the two years he has been in prison and she on her own. Widowed, she is determined to regain her standing in society, but Lord Shillington personifies temptation. Her friends convince her to try to re-enter society even after the scandalous way she acted after Lord Akford died.
And Dex's murky ties to a dead prostitute make it difficult to prove he's still the man Dani married. I wouldn't have missed much if I'd skimmed, and I did predict the ending correctly. My husband is good at drywall repair thank goodness but this book, for almost 60 percent made me crazy! All of a sudden it's 4 days later and she's seeing Dex. It's filled with emotions, her heroine Dani, who managed to run their ranch while her ex-husband is away. When she meets Henry Shillington, she's instantly attracted to him and offers to become his lover, but never his wife.
At least, I had quite a problem in believing she had worked alone a ranch for 2 years. I really loved Dani and Dex and Jeffery even though I did not like Jeff, the story wouldn't have been as good without him and I loved to hate him. The friendship blossoms into something more, but can Claudia let go of her past?. She didn't plan on running their California ranch by herself, but she's scraped by. Just try to stop reading this story after you have started! Why is she celebrating when she should be in mourning? Why bring it into the story at all if you aren't going to expand on it or even show them having any kind of relationship with her after that? I really liked this book. It tells the story of two charming characters Get swept away by this beautiful Regency historical romance! However, a conniving cop is lurking, ready to steal both Dani and the ranch at the slightest misstep.
When it came to the opposite sex she was always making a cake of herself. Claudia agreed to let Henry continue to court her. I was rooting for Henry to capture the woman he had been waiting for and for Claudia to give her heart to a sweet and wonderful man. Kept my interest from first page to last. If you want to know about special offers or when her next book will be available, please visit her at where you can sign up for an email. Semi-spoiler You knew there was a twist to Dex's story and I did like this; just not completely the way it was done. I want to read more from Bev.
I'll be watching for the fourth book in the series! Story of hope and redemption! She competed for five years on the Alberta Thoroughbred race circuit and is an Equine Canada certified coach. I liked that Henry was a somewhat shy man who wasn't an experienced rake. Her heart is broken and she still can't believe her husband Dex was caught with a hooker who died from bad heroin and has spent the last two years in prison. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and I also bought the book. Unfortunately, characters were even thinner than their story. She's been tricked into marriage and denied the man she's loved. Can he get her to open up to him? She lived a lonely painful life.
Henry on the other hand, has no intention of ever treating a woman the way his father treated his mother. There's a lot going on including a minister father who is anything but a Christian, a missionary brother who left for Africa right after that night when the crime happened and a passel of characters coming in and out of the picture. After the first third of the book, I was tempted to skim to the end to see how it turned out as I thought it would, but I instead read the whole thing. He was such that his good friend Lady Luvington would not stand in the way of his happiness if that included Claudia. This is the third book in the series but could be read as a stand alone story. Scandalous Redemption by Amanda Mariel is a great read. Well drunk Claudia lets some of her life trauma outta the bag to Henry.
Claudia knew she shouldn't have drank that much until she realized the wall she stumbled upon is a man. Ever the gentleman, Henry can't leave a damsel in distress he accompanies her in the garden. She never really gives up on her man and is fair and forgiving. I usually read Historical fiction, biographies, some history etc. But she is hopeful that she can live a peaceful life on her own. If you loved, her first two novellas, then you'll also love this one! I found myself disliking most of the characters with the exception of Dex. It was hard to like or support her.
I love hard working, selfless people and Dex and Dani both qualify. She has been in a few too many scandalous and is on the fringes of society. The ending: She goes to tell Jeffrey s I have to say I've loved all of the books I've read by this author but this was my least favorite. To view it, I have to say I've loved all of the books I've read by this author but this was my least favorite. I do love horses, but I admit that at times, the story seemed to be about them, not the couple. Her heart is broken and she still can't believe her husband Dex was caught with a hooker who died from bad heroin and has spent the last two years in prison. It's fast paced and filled with intrigues that kept me interested until Story of hope and redemption! She was just too much.
I'm a Bev Pettersen fan, and I'd definitely buy more of her books, but I wouldn't re-read this one. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from Ms Mariel in the future. T I was really looking forward to reading this, but as it turned out it was definitely not my favorite Bev Pettersen. In addition to learning so much about horses, the story is paced nicely from beginning to end. Now she wants to have a lover but for sure no marriage at all! Dex Tattrie has survived being locked up thanks to his biker gang relatives and a job working with horses at the prison farm. She didn't plan on running their California ranch by herself, but she's scraped by. She's celebrating by getting intoxicated.
