Ever-changing wine list and service is impeccable! If you don't want the full entree, go with the appetizer size! Fast forward 2 years later and I ended up moving here and have for the past 5 years. My husband had the King crab, which was good, but not enough crab for the price. Wine: Gustave Lorentz - Gewurztraminer. Also ask for the big daddy potatoes that aren't on the menu. Absolutely delicious and I could eat 2 dozen on my own. For our Entrees everyone at the Table were selecting dishes like Chilean Bass, Seafood Platters, Filet Mignon, my Dad ordered Mahi-Mahi over a Carrot Puree with a Grains Salad and topped with an Herb Butter a very firm fleshed fish but not one of my favorites but he enjoyed it.
The mashed peas here were not as good as Hell's Kitchen. Others had the king crab- good, filet also ok, sides of green beans, shrooms. If you're a Vegas local or a tourist visiting for business or pleasure, get off the Strip and enjoy the best Seafood in town!! And Carmelo Anthony was eating at the table behind me. The Hispanic waiter who brought us water was super cool. Our waiter for the night was great, he was attentive and prompted.
Seafood was cooked perfect, not rubbery at all. Their regular dinner has them and, of course, their special weekend seafood dinner also features them. If we weren't flying out the next day I would have paid for another basket to-go. The only downside is the restrooms are located up the stairs, around the corner and down the hall-quite the trek, but it is a big restaurant. I do wish they would bring back half portions of the sides so you could try more. Tip: don't order if out of season.
We shared a half dozen oysters and got 2 of each of the 3 varieties they offered. Although very fresh and delicious, the size and price were a little disappointing. We only ordered one side- sweet potato with pecan butter. Fresh stone crabs are found in the warm waters of the Gulf of Mexico. Sauza Signature Blue Silver 100% agave tequila shaken with triple sec and sweet and sour. The shrimp was literally the size of my hand and cooked to perfection. Over Priced and over rated! My roommate ordered the crab and something else in a bucket.
They are hand harvested, one claw at a time, and thrown back to the sea. Must try the battered apparagus with lemon butter sause. Your opinion is not needed! Service was prompt although the rest of the food took some time to come out. The crab is the Star of the show, but try the stuffed mushrooms and the ceviche. I have no arguments with that. I liked the clam chowder the best but I love soup and it is more of a soup. We get him almost every time we come.
The stone crab tastes like a sweet fresh caught from the ocean crab and the sea bass had a meaty amazing taste. Joes was good but not great. The crab cake appetizer was great, pretty filler free and it fell apart as soon as we cut into it to share. For those of you who love this place and swear by it, congrats and good for you. I also ordered two orders of raw oysters; the Kusshi and the kamamoto. So friendly and kind people, really made everyone feel special to be there. Typical, high Vegas resort markup.
It was our first time and I can't say enough good things. For dessert, try the Havana Dream Pie. I work in the industry so I felt bad walking in without a reservation, but they sat us immediately and our server was so happy to serve us and made sure everything went well. Very nice restaurant, went there for a friend's birthday. Our server was very knowledgeable and friendly.
He didn't even use any of the sauce that it came with! Quite honestly, I can't decide whether the food or service was worst--both failed miserably! This is the Select Stone Crab, which is 5 per order at market price. Joe Weiss, and his wife Jennie, discovered this unknown delicacy in the early 1920s, and soon after, began serving them at their restaurant in Miami Beach. Very well prepared and this is where star number 3 comes into play. If you want some crabs get there early. The lobster, cat fish, but crusted salmon and fish chip were all superb. We dined in Joe's and I loved it then.
